Elizabeth Chong, prolific television personality and celebrity chef has just listed her luxurious Richmond townhouse for sale with a price guide of $1.2 to $1.32 million.
Chong is known for her regular appearances on Good Morning Australia with Bert Newton and for her own program Tiny Delights. The Chinese cooking expert also has been recently made a member of the Order of Australia.
Considered to be one of the pioneers of Chinese cuisine in Melbourne, Chong first set up a cooking school in 1961 and since then has run tours of the city’s Chinatown and has written eight recipe books, such as the well-received The First Happiness and The Heritage of Chinese Cooking.
Jellis Craig Richmond listing agent Elliot Gill explains, “She’s in her 80s now and looking for that next property. She’s done a lot of entertaining there; she does like having guests around. It is a good chef’s kitchen, and it’s a great big open-plan living space along with the kitchen.”
The three-bedroom, north-facing home’s living area opens up to a private patio and landscaped garden. The main bedroom features an en suite with balcony, with ample parking for two cars.
According to Mr. Gill, the residence is in a private pocket that still has a lot of character in the vicinity of shopping streets and public transport. Chong’s townhouse is located between Victorian cottages and old Richmond factories.
“The majority of the people that are coming through are more the upsizers, having a look to buy something that does have three great bedrooms and a bit of backyard. ” he adds.
Mr. Gill also goes on to say, “If someone wanted to add their flavour to it, they could do it, but there’s nothing that they need to do.”
